ARELS (Association of Recognised English Language Services) is the professional body dedicated to supporting accredited independent English Language Teaching establishments in Britain.
ARELS, founded in 1960, is the longest established ELT association in the world. The Association represents 210 schools and 352 different teaching centres in Britain. Its main functions are:
to give students an assurance of quality
to promote professional best practice by members
to promote quality English language teaching in Britain
to represent the interests of members to government and official bodies
to provide a support network and a forum for discussion.
ARELS members are accredited through the English in Britain Scheme and in addition they must adhere to the ARELS Code of Practice which places great emphasis on the care and welfare of students.
